Open Gate Overview

This document applies to students and staff members using dekstop PCs. If you have have a laptop PC and have already setup Open Gate, you will not need to follow the steps in this guide.

The Open Gate client can log into District 88's content filter on your behalf, eliminating the need for you to enter your username and password when you open a web browser (pictured below).

Setup

The IT Department will began distributing this client applictaion to students and staff members using desktop PCs.

  1. The IT Department is rolling this application out to staff and students over the next few days, at some point in this time frame you or your students will see the following screen load:

  1. Enter your Novell Username and password into this dialog box and click Save
  2. After doing so, you will not need to enter your username and password into your web browser to access the Internet
